Visiting Grand Teton National Park in June
If you understand that conditions vary by elevation, Grand Teton National Park in June offers a vibrant mix of snow-capped peaks, blooming meadows, and active wildlife — making it one of the most dynamic months of the year.
Weather in June
By June, the snow has usually melted from most areas, though it can still be on the ground in the back country until well into July.
June is generally a mild month, but weather can be unpredictable.
Average daytime temperatures range from 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C). Nighttime temperatures can drop to around 35°F to 45°F (2°C to 7°C). Higher elevations may experience cooler temperatures, often below 60°F (15°C). With mornings this cool, layers are still essential.
Rainfall is possible, so pack accordingly for varying conditions.

Park Access and Roads
June brings expanding access and although some higher elevation routes may remain snow-covered early in the month, the main park roads are typically fully open
Highway 26/89/191
This is the main highway through the park and is open year-round and provides reliable access to scenic viewpoints.
Teton Park Road
This is the inner park road and is fully open in June.

Moose-Wilson Road
This is also open in June.
Signal Mountain Summit Road
This often opens mid-to-late May, so it typically open all June, but the opening may occasionally be delayed into early June depending on weather. .

🛏️ Jenny Lake Lodge and Dining Room usually open at the end of May (until early October) so is open in June.
🛏️ Signal Mountain Lodge (and all the restaurants there as well as the general store and gas station) usually opens the second week of May (until mid-October), so is open in June.
🛏️ Triangle X Dude and Guest Ranch is open late May to early October, so is open in June.
🛏️ Jackson Lake Lodge (and all the restaurants there) is open mid-May to early October, so is open in June.
🛏️ Colter Bay Cabins are usually open late May to the end of September, so is open in June.
🛏️ Headwaters Lodge and Cabins (and Sheffields Restaurant) usually open at the beginning of June (until the beginning of October).

Campgrounds in Grand Teton National Park
⛺ The Gros Ventre Campground usually opens late April, so is open in June (until mid-October).
⛺ Signal Mountain Campground usually opens the second week of May so is open in June (until mid-October).
⛺ Colter Bay Campground is typically open from late May, so is open in June to the end of September.
⛺ Colter Bay RV Park usually opens very early May (until mid-ish October), so is open in June.
⛺ The Colter Bay Tent Village is usually open late May to the beginning of September, so is open in June.
⛺ Headwaters Campground and RV Park opens early May though the start of October, so is open in June.
🚫 Jenny Lake Campground is not open in June. It usually opens at the start of July (until late September).
🚫 Lizard Creek Campground usually opens mid June and closes early September.
🚿 The Colter Bay Launderette and Showers are open early May to mid-October, so is open in June.
Visitor Centers
🛈 Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center (Moose) historically opens May 1, weather depending through end October, so is open in June.
🛈 The Jenny Lake Visitor Center, which has visitor information, exhibits, and park store, usually opens mid-May (until late September), so is open in June.
🛈 The Colter Bay Visitor Center usually opens the second week of May until the start of October, so is open in June. It has visitor information, a permits office, a park store, exhibits and a film. There are also often visit with the Indigenous Arts and Cultural Demonstration Artist.
🛈 Pathways & Information Kiosks: Seasonal information is usually available at trailheads and outdoor panels in June.
🛈 The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center opens early June (until late September).
🛈 The Jenny Lake Ranger Station, which has climbing information and issues backcountry permits, usually opens early June (until early September).
Water-Based Services
These are the warmest and driest months and it is possible to enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, wild water rafting, kayaking, cycling and even swimming in summer.
Boat Launches and Marinas
🚣♀️ Moose Landing and Snake River boat launches are usually open in June.
🚣♀️ The Deadmans Bar and the Pacific Creek Landing on Snake River boat launch opens when the winter wildlife closure lifted, which is usually the beginning of April (until mid-December).
🚣♀️ The Jackson Lake Dam, Snake River boat launch is usually open in June.
⛵ Signal Mountain Marina opens mid-May until late September, so is open in June.
⛵ Water levels permitting, the Colter Bay Marina is open late May to late September, so is open in June.
⛵ Leeks Marina opens mid-May and stays open through late September, so is open in June.
🛶 The String Lake Canoe Launch opens at the same time the Teton Park Road opens (typically May 1) and is open until the Teton Park Road closes for the winter, usually the end of October, so is open in June.
⚠️ Aquatic Invasive Species Watercraft Inspection Station opens mid-May (until end of September), so is open in June.
Boat Cruises
🛥️ The Jenny Lake Boat Shuttle and Cruises usually start mid-May (if the ice has cleared) – until late September, so is open in June.

Sights
🪵 The Menors Ferry Historic District usually opens at the beginning of April so is open in June.
🪵 The Cunningham Cabin Historic District is open year round.
⛪ The Chapel of the Transfiguration is open all year round. There are usually services in June.
🚠 The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram usually opens at the start of the second week of June (until early September).
⛪ Chapel of the Sacred Heart is open June through September with services most Sundays.
Horses
🐎 Jackson Lake Lodge Corrals open late May (until early October), so is open in June.
🐎 The Colter Bay Corrals open late May (until the beginning of September), so is open in June.
🐎 Headwaters Corrals usually open at the start of June through the end of August.
Stores and Restaurants
🏪 The Jenny Lake General Store opens early May (until early October), so is open in June.
🏪 The Colter Bay Convenience Store and Gas Station is open in June (it’s open mid-April to mid-October).
🏪 Headwaters Convenience Store and Gas Station open early May (until mid-October), so is open in June.
🏪 The Colter Bay General Store and Ranch House Restaurant are open late May to late September, so is open in June.
🍕 The Colter Bay Pizzeria is open late May to the beginning of September, so is open in June.
🍕 Leeks Pizzeria opens late May (and closes early September), so is open in June.
Hiking Trails in June
Expect muddy conditions in some areas as snowmelt continues.
The lower elevation trails are usually accessible in June. These include the Jenny Lake Loop, Taggart Lake, String Lake and the Colter Bay trails.
However, many higher elevation trails are not open in early June. When they open varies, but the following trails typically open up in early June. These include Cascade Canyon (which may have snow at higher elevations), Paintbrush Canyon, and Static Peak Divide.
Alpine routes often require traction devices early in the month.
Wildlife and Wildflowers
June remains a great month for wildlife.
Elk calves are often seen in meadows. Moose are active near wetlands and rivers. Bears (black bears and grizzlies) are actively foraging. And birdlife is abundant throughout the park.
Top wildlife viewing areas include Oxbow Bend, Schwabacher Landing, and Antelope Flats.
Early morning and evening are the best times to spot animals.
June brings the beginning of wildflower season.
Lower elevations start blooming early in the month. Meadows become increasingly colorful as June progresses.
Waterfalls and streams are also flowing strongly from snowmelt, adding to the scenery.
Is June a Good Time to Visit Grand Teton National Park?
June is a fantastic time to visit if you prioritize wildlife and waterfalls, don’t mind flexible hiking plans, prefer cooler temperatures, start your days early.
It’s less ideal if your goal is fully snow-free alpine hiking.
