Editorial Guidelines

I take great pride in the integrity of this website and am committed to the quality and trustworthiness of my content.

All guides on my website are the result of detailed research using the National Park Service website for each park as the primary source. I research all statements of fact to ensure that information presented in my guides is accurate and comprehensive and any statistics are properly sourced and up to date. If you ever come across an article that you think needs to be improved, please reach out by emailing me directly at james(at)parkscollecting.com.

Of course, I also visit the parks and create and update content based on my personal experiences.

  • When I write planning tips, these are things that I learned on my trips to those parks.
  • When I write a hiking guide, it’s based on my experiences hiking that trail.
  • When I write about getting reservations, I go into the recreation.gov website and make reservations myself.
  • When I write guides sharing practical information like airports, transportation or accommodations, I use a combination of my own experience and current information from the NPS or authorized concessionaires’ websites.

I stay up-to-date on everything is happening at the national parks by check the NPS news releases at least weekly and immediately update any content if something has changed.

My editorial content is not influenced by our advertisers. I maintain a strict separation between any advertising on my website and editorial content.

My product and service reviews and recommendations are independent and based on detailed research and product testing. When readers visit “affiliate links” within my content, I may receive commissions from purchases you make (at no additional cost to you), but I never receive any compensation or consideration for the content of my recommendations. Affiliate links are always disclosed at the top of an article before you purchase.
