Weather in Grand Teton National Park in July
July offers warm summer weather with cool mountain mornings.
Typical daytime highs are 75โ85ยฐF with nighttime lows around 40โ50ยฐF (4โ10ยฐC). The higher elevations are noticeably cooler, especially in the mornings.
Afternoon thunderstorms occasionally develop, but they usually pass quickly.
Mornings and evenings are cooler โ they are not only really pleasant temperature-wise, but this is also the best time of day for hiking and photography.
Whatโs Open in Grand Teton National Park in July?
July is peak season in Grand Teton National Park, and nearly everything is fully open and operating on summer schedules.
Hereโs what you can expect:
Park Roads
All major roads are open in July, including the Teton Park Road (scenic interior road) and U.S. Highway 191/89/26 (which runs through the park) – forming the scenic loop drive. The scenic Jenny Lake Road and Signal Mountain Summit Road are both also open.
Scenic pullouts and overlooks are fully accessible.
Jenny Lake Area
July is prime time at Jenny Lake.
The Jenny Lake Visitor Center open, the boat shuttle across Jenny Lake is operating and the Cascade Canyon trail is open.

The downside is that the parking lots fill very early (often before 8:00 AM)!
Hiking Trails
Early July may still have small patches of snow on the highest routes. However, most trails are fully open and snowโfree by midโJuly, including Paintbrush Canyon where snow is possible in early July at the higher elevations on the trail.

Visitor Centers
All visitor centers are fully operational and open daily in July.
Ranger programs include guided hikes, wildlife talks, and evening programs.
๐ Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center (Moose) historically opens May 1, weather depending through end October, so is open in July.
๐ The Jenny Lake Visitor Center, which has visitor information, exhibits, and park store, usually opens mid-May (until late September), so is open in July.
๐ The Colter Bay Visitor Center usually opens the second week of May until the start of October, so is open in July. It has visitor information, a permits office, a park store, exhibits and a film. There are also often visit with the Indigenous Arts and Cultural Demonstration Artist.
๐ Pathways & Information Kiosks: Seasonal information is usually available at trailheads and outdoor panels in July.
๐ The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center opens early June (until late September), so is open in July.
๐ The Jenny Lake Ranger Station, which has climbing information and issues backcountry permits, usually opens early June (until early September), so is open in July.

โต Signal Mountain Marina opens mid-May until late September, so is open in July.
โต Water levels permitting, the Colter Bay Marina is open late May to late September, so is open in July.

Wildlife and Wildflowers
Wildlife remains active throughout July.
Moose are often seen near wetlands and rivers. Elk and deer are common in meadows. Bears are active in the park โ always observe from a safe distance and take bear spray. Birdlife is abundant.
Best viewing times are early morning and evening.
July is one of the best months for wildflowers as the alpine meadows fill with colorful blooms.
The Tetons are still partially snow-capped, creating stunning contrasts. This is one of the most photogenic times of year in the park.
