Visiting Acadia National Park in April

What is Acadia National Park like in April?
April is typically wet and muddy. The weather in April is not great โ the snow and ice are melting, and rain and fog are common, especially in the mornings. Temperatures are typically between the mid-20s and the mid-50s (F).ย
If you want to see and do the best of Acadia National Park, April is not the best month โ especially the first half of the month when most park facilities are still closed.
The carriage roads are often closed at this time so they donโt get ruined as they turn to mud.ย
However, some things start to open in mid-April, which is when the Park Loop Road, Cadillac Mountain Road and Echo Lake Beach open.ย
On the plus side: Reservations arenโt required for the Cadillac Mountain Summit Road until late May, so once itโs open, you can drive up easily.ย (Though keep in mind that mornings in April are often foggy, so you might not see the famous sunrise).
And the park is definitely not crowded this time of year.ย There are no leaves on the trees, which I donโt like much, but some people like the fact that this gives more expansive views from many places in the park.ย ย
