What is the Best Time To Visit Shenandoah National Park In a Nutshell?
The best time to visit Shenandoah is late spring/ early summer (April-June) and fall (September-October).
The waterfalls are their fullest in spring (in fact many dry up later in summer). The weather in Shenandoah National Park is cool and pleasant. There are also not too many people around at this time of year.
Shenandoah is especially famous for the fall foliage and the colors are their best in October. The Shenandoah weather in fall is cool and perfect for hiking. This is the busiest time of year, however, so try to visit mid-week if possible.
My personal favorite time is mid-week in mid-October to enjoy the fall color.
