I’m including here the technically closest airport AND the nearest airport with commercial flights.

Grand Canyon National Park Airport (GCN)

If you’re asking, “What is the closest airport to Grand Canyon National Park?”, Grand Canyon National Airport is technically the nearest. However, although this is the closest airport to Grand Canyon South rim, the tiny airport is mostly used for charter flight services and scenic aircraft tours.

Grand Canyon National Park flights include day tours via Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines flying to Grand Canyon and the West Rim, Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell, and Grand Canyon North. Westwind Air Service charter also offers flights to Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Page, and Lake Powell. You can also get helicopter services provided by Maverick, Grand Canyon Helicopters, and Papillion.

There are no car rental services available at this airport but you can take the Arizona Shuttle (Groome Transportation) or bus tours by Grand Canyon Coaches to reach the park.

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG)

Flagstaff Arizona

Flagstaff Pulliam Airport is the closest airport to the Grand Canyon National Park with commercial flights.

It takes less than two hours to reach the South Rim from the airport. It’s the best choice to fly into if you want to minimize driving (or not drive at all).  You can also include trips to other attractions like Route 66, Sedona’s Red Rocks, the San Francisco Peaks, and Wupatki National Monument.  

If you’re looking for airports near Grand Canyon Village, AZ that connect with Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Denver then this is a great choice.  American Airlines and United Airlines both have connecting flights between these cities and Flagstaff.

What is the closest airport to Grand Canyon – North Rim?

Page Municipal Airport (PGA)

Page Municipal Airport is another small airport near the Grand Canyon National Park. It offers daily commercial flights to Phoenix on Contour Airlines. 

It’s almost the same distance to either North or South Rim entrances, though the North Rim is slightly closer. You can get to the North Rim in a two-hour and fifteen-minute drive. Avis is the only car rental option available at this airport, and they have a counter right inside the terminal.  

It can make sense to fly here if you’re visiting Page and its nearby attractions like Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon.  You can also explore other national parks and scenic locations like Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Zion National Park, and Monument Valley.  

You can also get scenic air tours to Grand Circle provided by American Aviation, Grand Canyon Airlines, and Westwind Aviation. Taxi services like Destination Taxi and Buggy Taxi and Helping Hands Express can get you around the city and nearby areas.

  • Few flight options.  You might end up waiting for several hours in Phoenix for a connection to/ from Page. 
  • Limited car rental service
